What to do in Auvergne

With your family or on your own, get away from it all during your stay in the Cantal

Visit the Auvergne on foot

Ready for a breath of fresh air? The Auvergne region is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails. Through breathtaking landscapes, discover many places not to be missed.

One of these paths allows you to walk around the Cantalien massif with the GR® 400. Starting from the commune of Murat, this hike passes by the famous volcano.

On a smaller scale is the Teton de Venus and its 7 km trail leading to the summit of the Bec de l'Aigle rock. A splendid 360° view of the Cantalien strato-volcano awaits those who embark on this climb.

The Aubrac Regional Nature Park also offers numerous walking trails, accessible to all. A variety of beautiful landscapes and wildlife await you.

If you prefer cycling to walking, the Grande Traversée du Massif Central is for you!

Family outings

Take a trip back to the Middle Ages or the Renaissance by walking through the streets of Clermont-Ferrand! The architecture of its historic city centre is full of magnificent old buildings.

Take advantage of this walk to pass by the impressive Notre-Dame de l'Assomption cathedral, which rises from the central hillock of the city. Work began in 1248 and it took seven centuries for the building to be completed.

If you're staying with the family, Vulcania is a great outing out for all ages: the perfect opportunity to learn more about volcanoes and our planet.
